  1. When I retired, I began exploring the idea of writing...a luxury I had never had time for before. My profession required me to be a researcher, so I sought writing sites and discovered FanStory. Since then, I have never looked back.

Today, I have the blessings of many friends, reviewers, editors and wonderful advice. Most of all, for the first time in my life, I have learned to trust enough to open myself honestly through my words.

In less than two years, I have learned to love poetry, reflect daily on my life, and transfer what I've learned through FanStory to my everyday interactions with those I love.

Side benefits include being ranked a top poet, and being published...a fete that was beyond my limited imagination at the time.

FanStory has changed my life. I have recommended the site to friends and acquaintances who share a passion to write.

Featured in an upcoming anthology of poems entitled "Tapestry: Poetic Threads of Life" published by Gayle Farmer and available in December on Amazon.com and in "This One's for the Birds," an anthology published by Dr. Jane Westerfield for the benefit of Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary (www.wingsofhopenow.com).

  2. Fanstory is without doubt the best writing community for any writer. Since joining in 2008, I’ve learned more here than I have through formal education. This has been the perfect place to receive invaluable feedback on my writing and meet other writers from all over the world. The writing opportunities and competitions are endless.

Thanks to this wonderful site and great reviewers, I’ve gone from struggling to write a paragraph to winning the August 2010 Recognized Writer Award. I never imagined in my wildest dream of being the recipient of such an honorable award. Fanstory has been a blessing, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

  3. After writing my first poem and story in 1988, I tucked them away for over twenty years. Then while online one late night I discovered FanStory. I signed up but didn't start posting for several months. One night I took the plunge and am now hooked on writing. I look forward to going online each day/night to read and write as much as I can. I have met the most wonderful people from all around the world...they are all special to me and through them, I have learned a lot about many things. I have had two publications, one poem in Jane Westerfields "This Is For The Birds" and a story "The Horseman" was published at their request in "GreatFallsLittleWords". I admire and respect all my FanStory friends and wish them all the best in their endeavors too! Without FanStory, I would never had written again, I am sure. Thank you to all. It's a great pleasure being a part of this community. Susan Miller/Realist101

  4. I can tell you this - there are many scams out there. This isn't one of them. I highly recommend FanStory.com to anyone that writes. The contests are fantastic. FanStory.com provides a great place to share your writing for feedback. I love all the contests you can enter. I have learned so much by being a part of FanStory.com and take pleasure in writing again.

  5. I would like to share my thoughts about Fanstory. I've always felt something deep within me to write. When I found Fanstory.com my first thought is - can this be for real? Is it a scam. I'm glad I took the leap and shared my poetry on fanstory because it has changed my life.

Because of Fanstory.com I've grown. I've overcome my fears as a poet. Now I can say what I feel and mean. I have been published. I actually get royalty checks now. What a feeling to open a royalty check!

I have learned so much because of fanstory! Please don't hesitate like I did. FanStory.com is a wonderful place. It has wonderful people that are there to help you like they did me.

  6. There is nothing like Fanstory, and as a long time Fanstorian, I can attest to everything the others here said about the site. If you want to improve your craft or learn how to write professionally, if you need input on your existing work or a sounding board, this is the place to be.

I joined in 2003 and the changes in my life and in my writing can only be stated in superlatives like outstanding, phenominal and completely satisfying.

    Try it, you'll like it.
